Japanese School Murderer Gets Death Sentence

The man who committed the murders of eight students at a Japanese elementary school two years ago has been sentenced to death.

Mamoru Takuma, 39, was found guilty of breaking into Ikeda Elementary School in Osaka and stabbing seven girls and one boy to death with a knife. Two teachers and 13 students were injured in the June 2001 attack, which caused many schools in Japan to create crisis management guidelines and boost physical security.
